Antibiotics and Gut Flora Disruption

Antibiotics kill both harmful and beneficial bacteria indiscriminately. The beneficial bacteria (especially Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium) normally keep Candida in check. When they're eliminated, Candida has space and resources to overgrow rapidly, sometimes becoming systemic.
