Kundalini Rising: Common Experiences and How to Find Calm Again

People describing a kundalini rising often mention waves of heat or energy along the spine, tingling or vibrations, strong emotions surfacing, vivid dreams, heightened sensitivity and difficulty sleeping. It can feel beautiful or overwhelming. The first step is always grounding and simplicity: rest, nature, water, fewer stimulating practices. Because these experiences can overlap with medical conditions, check any worrying symptom with a doctor first. A Jnana Kanda session can then support balance and integration.
I have met many people in the middle of an intense spiritual awakening. Some are radiant. Others are frightened, exhausted, unable to sleep. Kundalini is a sacred, intelligent force — but when it moves faster than the body can integrate, it needs gentleness, not more intensity. I explain its nature in what is kundalini.
Experiences people commonly describe
- Heat, currents or pressure along the spine or at the top of the head.
- Tingling, trembling or spontaneous movements.
- Old emotions rising suddenly: tears, laughter, anger.
- Very vivid dreams, visions, synchronicities.
- Hypersensitivity to noise, people, screens.
- Restless nights and a mind that won’t slow down.
First, rule out the medical side
Many of these sensations can also have physical or psychological causes. Please see a doctor about anything that worries you — palpitations, pain, panic, loss of sleep for days. This is not doubting your spiritual experience; it is taking care of the body that carries it.
Five ways to find calm again
- Pause intense practices: breathwork, long meditations, fasting.
- Ground yourself: bare feet on earth, walking, gardening.
- Eat warm, simple, nourishing food.
- Use water: showers, the sea, a bath with salt.
- Reduce screens and stimulation, especially in the evening.
How a Jnana Kanda session supports integration
In Bali, awakening is guided within a lineage and respected. In a session, I first purify with the principle of melukat, then ask for alignment with nature, and only then transmit — gently, at the pace your body can receive. The aim is not to push the energy higher, but to help it settle and flow. I describe this attitude in honouring kundalini.
“Kundalini does not need to be pushed. It needs a body that feels safe enough to let it flow.”
Frequently asked questions
Is a kundalini rising dangerous?
It can be destabilising when it is intense. That is why grounding, simplicity and medical checks for worrying symptoms matter.
How long does it last?
It varies from a few days to much longer periods of change. Integration is a process, not an event.
Can I book a session just to calm things down?
Yes. It is my normal one-hour session, focused on grounding and balance.
