Stress-Related Sleep Problems: Breaking the Vicious Circle

Stress-Related Sleep Problems: Breaking the Vicious Circle

Stress keeps the body alert at night, and poor sleep makes stress harder to handle the next day — a vicious circle. To break it, calm the body before bed rather than fighting to sleep: a fixed evening ritual, no screens for an hour, a long-exhale breathing practice, writing down worries, and a cool, dark room. If insomnia lasts, see your doctor. A Jnana Kanda session can support deep relaxation and help the body remember how to let go.

You are exhausted all day, and then, the moment your head touches the pillow, your mind wakes up. This is one of the most common things my clients describe. The body is tired; the nervous system is not.

A 30-minute evening ritual

  1. Screens off, lights low.
  2. Write tomorrow’s to-do list and every worry on paper.
  3. A warm shower, imagining the day flowing away with the water.
  4. Five minutes of 4–8 breathing lying in bed.
  5. A hand on your heart and one sentence of gratitude.

What to avoid

  • Coffee after 2 pm.
  • Intense discussions or news just before bed.
  • Checking the time during the night.
  • Staying in bed for hours awake — get up, read calmly, come back when sleepy.

How a session helps you sleep

Many clients fall asleep during the session itself — and tell me they slept deeply that night. By releasing accumulated tension and restoring balance, a Jnana Kanda session helps the body leave ‘alert mode’. For local sessions focused on sleep, see calm and sleep in Antibes.

“Sleep cannot be forced. It comes when the body feels safe enough to let go.”
